TEST SIEVES
W.S. TYLER developed the first Test Sieve products and standards that are commonly used today. While a Test Sieve may appear to be a very simple device, it is actually a very precise instrument used for Quality Control every day. Standard Test Sieve diameters include 3", 8", 12", 200 mm, and 300 mm. Special application products are available in 6", 10", and 18" diameters and include Air Jet and Wet Test designs. All W.S. Tyler Test Sieves are fabricated in brass and durable stainless steel. Our premium quality sieve cloth, woven by Haver & Boecker, is produced to the very tight tolerances, providing consistent repeatable analysis. Standard openings per international specifications range from 5" (125 mm) down to 20 um (micron).
Repeatable test results and particle size distribution curves from laboratory to laboratory, state to state, country to country, is a long term goal of W.S. Tyler’s Industrial Group.
W.S. Tyler Test Sieves conform to the current ASTM E11-13 and ISO 565, 3310-1 standards.
The products detailed in TABLE 1 below are proudly manufactured in Mentor, Ohio USA.
Test sieving has been used for particle measurement for generations in the Agricultural, Bio-Industry, Chemical, Cosmetics, General Industrial, Fertilizer, Foods, Minerals, Pharmaceuticals, Plastics and Metal Products industries.
Each W.S. Tyler Test Sieve is serialized and supplied with supporting documentation.
W.S. Tyler provides test sieves in three grades:
- Standard: Supplied with a Certificate of Compliance. Equal to ASTM E11-13 Compliance Sieve.
- Certified: Supplied with NIST traceable histogram. Equal to ASTM E11-13 Inspection Sieve. See Sieve Analysis and Calibration for more information.
- Certified-PLUS: Supplied with NIST traceable histogram. Equal to ASTM E11-13 Calibration Sieve. See Sieve Analysis and Calibration for more information.

Special Application Test Sieves: Contact Us
- Air Jet Sieves (200 mm diameter). For use in a vacuum air jet system. Stainless Steel cloth and frame construction, 1-3/4” in height. This design is not to be used with a traditional sieve shaker.
- Wet Wash/Deep Frame Sieve. For use in the cement industry where water is introduced to the test sample. 3”, 8”, and 12” diameters with drain holes in the sieve skirt for drainage. Brass frame and stainless steel cloth.
- Test Sieve Accessories include stainless steel and brass sieve covers and pans, cleaning brushes and an ultrasonic test sieve cleaner.
